Ryan began playing volleyball at the age of 16 and graduated high school at 17. He played for two different NAIA colleges: Dominican University and Kendall College. He also played for a junior college (JC) in California named Orange Coast College. He played pro volleyball in several different countries, and they all come with their own unique stories and time periods.
EUROPE: Austria Belgium Czech Republic Denmark Greece Germany Holland Italy Slovakia
ASIA/MIDDLE EAST: Qatar
NORTH AMERICA: Puerto Rico
Although he didn't play for a separate team in each of those countries, he did play there either with a team he was on, a tournament he was playing in, to simply train, or for a try-out. His first and foremost passion and love is volleyball, and aspires to be one of the best volleyballers in the world. He recognizes how very far he has to go to accomplish that goal, but is much closer now due to the fact that in 2005 he was named one of the best of 18 players in the USA by his addition to the USA national team. Ryan starts 2006 with high hopes that his development in a new position as an outside hitter builds firmly. Ryan looks forward to competing for a spot on the traveling team this year. This year he has decided not to play professionally for the 2005-06 season, but to stay in the US at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and learn from the best. Wish him luck in 2006!
